CDL Class-A & B local commercial driver


Job description


Employees with this classification spend a significant portion of their time driving CDL vehicles (Class A or B), hauling hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Personnel in this position maintain a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with an “X” (tanker & hazmat) endorsement. Drivers must complete pre-trip inspections and log their hours of service using an electronic logging device (ELD).


Class B drivers operate :

26′ box trucks with liftgates

Vacuum trucks. (Turbos, Guzzlers, Dry Vac, and Pumpers)

Stake trucks


Class A drivers operate day cab tractors pulling trailers ranging from :

48-53′ dry van trailers (some with a liftgate)

Vacuum tanker, of which some are multi-axle

Flatbed (step deck), low-boy (detach)

Roll-off trailers, of which some are multi-axle

 

Primary work involves loading containerized (drum/tote/pallet/box/bulk) waste from industrial/commercial/government clients and transporting that material to a permitted treatment, storage, or disposal facility (TSDF). Other activities include packaging and collecting waste material for transportation while wearing the appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) as provided by ENI. Drivers will also lift and move heavy objects (drums and hoses), generally with a mechanical advantage. Drivers often engage with customers and manage paperwork (work order/manifest/BOL) associated with the task. Drivers must communicate and work well in a team atmosphere.


ENI provides job training and offers annual refresher training as required by regulations. Our office atmosphere is friendly, and we are a phone call away to answer your questions when on the job. Most of our fleet is newer and will continue to be as we rotate older vehicles with new ones. ENI has onsite maintenance and uses several off-site maintenance facilities for vehicle repair. ENI aims to help employees balance work with life when given sufficient notice. Requirements :

  • This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Hazardous waste transportation experience is preferred, but ERG will train the right candidate with previous hazmat experience.
  • Possess a valid Class A CDL License with tanker and hazmat endorsement (X) and a clean driving record that includes:
  • No more than two moving violations in the past three years
  • No DUI/DWI in the past three years
  • No preventable accidents in the past year
  • No more than two preventable accidents in the last three years
  • No serious moving violations in the past three years; some examples are reckless driving, driving to endanger, and open alcohol containers
  • Able to travel — Home nights 85-95% of the time. Minimal overnight work is required for specific projects. Generally, a hotel and per diem are provided (day cab division); some routes require a sleeper truck (OTR division). Work: Monday – Saturday (overtime mandatory).
  • The candidate must have sufficient mechanical and organization ability.
  • The candidate must be able to follow instructions given by management, communicate, and make real-time decisions.
  • The candidate must be able to work safely using the required PPE and maintain timelines.
  • Able to work with little to no direct supervision and an aptitude to complete assigned work.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of driving for up to 11 hours and working occasional 14-hour shifts.
  • Possess the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from the ground to your shoulder.
  • Ability to climb a ladder, have good balance and reach over your head.
  • Possess the ability to pull open a truck hood and climb under a truck and trailer to complete a pretrip inspection. Vehicle safety is a top priority.
